Nearly 1,600 runners finish 34th LHRR
Litchfield.bz (6-14
-10)

Kenyan Julius Kiptoo made history Sunday by capturing his third Litchfield Hills Road Race victory in a time of 34:48. He won in 2009 and 2006 and is the first three-time winner in the 34-year history of the race. Malika Mejdoub of Morocco was the first female finisher, in 40:15. Just under 1,600 runners enjoyed near perfect conditions. With the temperature in the upper 60s and overcast skies, it was an ideal day to run. Many local runners posted LHRR personal-best times. Race Director John Clock and his organizing committee did another outstanding job in maintaining the race as one of the best small-town races in the U.S. Here are some photos showing moments of the day.
