Litchfield High's softball team played one of its better games of the season last Wednesday in a 6-1 loss to Nonnewaug at Plumb Hill Playing Fields.
Jenny Cappello pitched a complete-game six-hitter for the Cowgirls. She gave up three runs over six innings before Nonnewaug broke the game open with three runs in the seventh.
Litchfield couldn't do much with Nonnewaug hurler Sam Haggerty, managing only three hits. Shelby Butwell and Camille Richards stroked back-to-back doubles in the fourth inning to produce Litchfield's run. Brianna Rogers played a solid game at shortstop for the Cowgirls.
Litchfield dropped to 3-13.
