Wamogo's Nick Nemergut lets a shot fly in last Friday's victory at Wolcott Tech. Nemergut, a freshman, has been a valuable performer off the bench for the Warriors.
Basketball fans can get a look at the Wamogo boys and girls teams tonight when they host Lewis Mills in a doubleheader.
The boys game begins at 5:30 and the girls play at 7. In between, Wamogo's Mike Odenwaelder will be honored for breaking the 1,000-point mark.
Odenwaelder cracked the milestone in last Friday's victory over Wolcott Tech.
The girls game has the makings of the thriller, with Wamogo standing at 14-2 and in second place in the Berkshire League and Mills right behind at 13-3.
Wamogo's boys are 8-6 after having lost 53-50 at Terryville on Tuesday. The Warriors grabbed the lead on two free throws by Lucas Fraher with one minute left, but Terryville came back to net the win.
Odenwaelder finished with 24 points, Steve Celadon had 12 and Fraher eight. Odenwaelder is the sixth boy in Wamogo history to hit 1,000 points. The others are Chuck Aleksinas, Jed Coe, Ryan Margaitis, Jeremy Margaitis and Charlie O'Neill.
