Litchfield High swim coach Bill Dranginis made a glorious return to the sidelines Monday, leading his team to a thrilling 96-90 victory over Northwestern.
Dranginis was gracing the pool deck for the first time since completing a two-week suspension levied by school officials after he admitted to doctoring a swimmer's time last year. Adjusting the time allowed the swimmer to qualify for the Class S trials in March.
With the win over Northwestern, Litchfield improved to 6-4 and stands in third place in the Berkshire League behind Shepaug and Lewis Mills.
Adam Stanley had a big meet for the Cowboys in winning the diving competition and the 100-yard freestyle. Other winners were Aidan Dyer in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard freestyle team of Eric Sandrib, Stanley, Tim Crampton and Dyer.
