Democratic Party Convention - 30th District
Press Release (3-2-10)

The Democratic 30th District State Senate convention will be held on Monday, May 24th at 7:30 p.m. at Chatterley's Banquet Facility at Eastwoods Country Club, 1301 Torringford West Street, Torrington.

Currently, as the Temporary Chairman of that convention, I am seeking names of potential candidates for this seat in the event it does actually does become an open seat.

Potential candidates should be thinking of the delegate selection process that will now be taking place in March between the dates of March 23rd-30th. The 30th District currently has 64 delegates, so a candidate would need 10 delegates in order to qualify for a primary. In addition, potential candidates need to think about whether or not campaign finance reform will continue in place after April 1st, because the reform is set to end as of that date if no new laws are passed between now & then. Without campaign finance reform, a viable candidate would need to raise at least $50,000-$100,000, and with campaign finance reform, you would need to raise $15,000 for a match I believe currently is $85,000.

Interested candidates should feel free to contact Audrey Blondin at 860-489-8997 or audbl@aol.com
