GOP candidate for Congress visits Goshen
Litchfield.bz (9-27-10)

Sam Caligiuri, left, a candidate for Congress, with Frank Gomes of Goshen during the Republican Town Committee pig roast on Saturday.

State Sen. Sam Caligiuri, R-Waterbury, who is trying to unseat incumbent U.S. Rep. Christopher Murphy, D-Cheshire, in the 5th District, was at the Goshen Republican Town Committee's seventh annual pig roast Saturday at the Church of Christ Congregational.

Caligiuri spoke to the crowd and was critical of Murphy and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, saying their liberal ways are destroying the country. Town committee Chairman John Morris liked what heard and said Caligiuri has the committee's backing.

"We all like Sam and support him. He's been to the Goshen Fair, he's met with the town committee and he here tonight, and that shows a lot about his character," Morris said. "Sam represents the positive, conservative change that we need."

Said Caligiuri: "We are 38 days away from taking this country back."
