Faculty and staff get off to rocking start
Litchfield.bz (8-30-10)

It was a rousing beginning to the first week of school for Litchfield's staff and faculty, who will greet students on Wednesday. Monday's convocation at the intermediate school featured two energetic numbers from some of the more musically-inclined staff and Board of Education Chairman James Katzin. "Howie Roll, featuring Katzin on bass guitar, high school Principal Kristen Della Volpe on lead guitar, high school band director Dan Porri on lead vocals and saxophone, high school choral director Peter Perkins on keyboard, intermediate school physical education teacher Andy Parker on drums, and foreign language teacher Mary Perreira and guidance secretary Tammy Knox on background vocals, cranked out Bachman Turner Overdrive's "Taking Care of Business" to get things going. Superintendent of Schools Deborah Wheeler and First Selectman Leo Paul Jr. welcomed faculty and staff and Wheeler outlined the mission for the school year.
