Laurel Ridge to host Celebration of Farms
Litchfield.bz (8-30-10)

Litchfield's Laurel Ridge Farm, known for its home-grown beef, will host the annual Celebration of Connecticut Farms on Sept. 12.

Actress Christine Baranski, celebrity Chef Jacques Pepin and WNPR food commentator Faith Middleton are chairpersons of the event, which serves as a fundraiser for the Connecticut Farmland Trust. The trust works with farmers, land trusts and state agencies to preserve farmland.

In 2010, the trust has preserved nearly 600 acres of farmland.

Laurel Ridge Farm is owned by the Morosani family and straddles both sides of Wigwam Road, a scenic area off of Route 254. John Morosani runs the farm and for several years has been raising grass-fed beef and selling his product at the windmill on the property. Pork and poultry are also being raised at the farm.

Tickets to the Celebration of Connecticut Farms are $150, of which $75 is tax deductible. Admission entitles ticket-holders to food, drink, entertainment and tours of the farm. To reserve tickets, go to www.CelebrationOFCtFarms.org or call (860) 347-0202. Click here for more information.

John Morosani of Laurel Ridge Farm shares his thoughts about the upcoming 2010 Celebration of CT Farms in this exclusive Litchfield.bz video.
