First Selectman Leo Paul Jr. has been appointed to the Connecticut Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations by Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
The commission recommends solutions on how to improve efficiency and coordination between state and local government. Paul will serve through June 30, 2012.
"Leo's distinguished professional background and his experience as Litchfield's first selectman will serve him well on this commission," Rell said in a statement Thursday. "His ideas will help us to make government more efficient, and I commend him for his service to the state."
Paul, first selectman since 2003, is a retired Air Force officer with more than 20 years of active duty service. He is chairman of the Litchfield Hills Council of Elected Officials and serves on the board of directors of the Council of Small Towns, which lobbies on behalf of small towns in the state.
