P&Z renews Hunter's Chase permit
Litchfield.bz (8-5-10)

Hunter's Chase, the partially-built townhouse community, will be placed on the market now that its owner, Webster Bank, has gained renewal of a zoning permit allowing completion of the remaining 66 townhouses.

The Planning and Zoning Commission renewed the permit on Monday, but with conditions that will require Webster Bank to maintain erosion and sedimentation control measures protecting residential property on nearby Hart Drive.

Webster Bank acquired Hunter's Chase last year through foreclosure and plans to sell the property to a developer who would complete the project. Ginsburg Development of Danbury, the original developer, built 37 of the 103 units before going bankrupt two years ago.

Ginsburg's zoning permit was granted in 2003 and expired in 2008. Hunter's Chase is bordered by Hart Drive and Clark Road near the Torrington line. To satisfy planning and zoning and the Inland Wetlands Commission, Webster Bank stabilized a large mound of dirt and excavated areas to prevent runoff from affecting Hart Drive property.
