Gubernatorial candidate Dan Malloy was one of seven Democrats seeking statewide office to make a stop at the Morris Town Beach on Saturday for the third annual Bantam Lake outing sponsored by the Morris Democratic Town Committee and the Democratic town committees of several area towns. The gathering gave local Democrats a chance to hear from the candidates as the Aug. 10 Democratic primary approaches. Malloy's running mate, state Comptroller Nancy Wyman, attended as did Mary Glassman, first selectman of Simsbury and running mate of Malloy's opponent in the primary, Ned Lamont; state comptroller candidates Michael Jarjura, the mayor of Waterbury, and Kevin Lembo; secretary of the state candidates Denise Merrill and Gerry Garcia; and attorney general candidate George Jepson. U.S. Rep. Christopher Murphy and Diane Blick, judge in the Litchfield Probate District and a candidate for judge in the new Litchfield Hills Probate District, also turned out. Morris Democratic Town Committee Chairman Larry Sweeney did most of the work to organize the event.
