Sidewalk project is underway
Litchfield.bz (7-19-10)

The long-awaited South Street sidewalk project began taking shape late last week, with the asphalt walk in front of the post office being torn up by Clover Construction of Bristol and replaced with a brick surface. Clover will remove the rest of the sidewalk from the post office to the corner of South and West Streets this week. It is expected to take about two weeks to lay the walkway's new bricks, which will match the bricks on the walk laid on West Street last fall. The project is being overseen by a committee established by the Borough of Litchfield and is being funded by private donations and $340,000 in state grants. The funding is enough to cover both sidewalks.
