Water conservation urged by Aquarion
Contributed by Litchfield First Selectman Leo Paul, Jr. (7-6-10)

Over the past few weeks, Aquarion has experienced unforeseen problems that have limited the capacity of one of their well-fields. To restore this lost capacity and ensure that they are able to provide the highest level of service possible to Litchfield customers, they will be taking one of their wells off line for repairs beginning Wednesday, July 7 and ending Wednesday, August 4.

During this four week period, they have asked the Town to help by conserving water whenever possible. In particular, they are looking to limit the increased water use that occurs during periods of hot, dry weather. Please keep this in mind and limit or discontinue water use for activities such as irrigation, vehicle washing, and cleaning of driveways, sidewalks and roads.

Aquarion will be providing regular updates on the status of supply during the project and I will pass along any further requests for conservation.
