The four candidates for the Republican nomination in the 5th District Congressional race and U.S. Senate candidate Rob Simmons were in Litchfield on Sunday to meet with the town's Republicans. The gathering was held at the South Street home of Jim and Victoria Sansing. Congressional candidates getting to know the crowd were Mark Greenberg of Litchfield, Sam Caligiuri of Waterbury, Kie Westby of Southbury and Justin Bernier of Plainville.

Also attending was Patrick J. Wall, probate judge in Harwinton. Litchfield's Republican Town Committee has endorsed Wall as its candidate of choice for the newly-formed Litchfield Hills Probate District. The probate election is in November.
